Unlike the commonly found clocks which take the time forward, the countdown clocks move in the opposite direction thus going back on time. The starting time or the ending time of an event either in sports or any such competitions is usually calculated by the use of the countdown clock. The countdown clock is generally used in sporting competitions to ascertain the time taken by the sportsman to complete an activity. The other spheres where these countdown clocks are used are in the launching of rockets and spacecrafts. They are also used in the countdown to welcome the New Year.
